love birds

Gordy got smooched a few days ago by his little neighbor-friend, Sanoe.  We were all at the beach, the kiddos were playing, the parents were talking, and out of the corner of my eye I saw Sanoe grab Gordy by the shoulders and plant one on him.  While he didn't instigate the kiss, he sure didn't protest... in fact, he opened his mouth up and gave her a slimy one right back.  It was so cute!  For the rest of the beach sess, anytime Sanoe got her face near him, Gordy would tilt his head back and open up his mouth in preparation for another lipper.  Baby-love is so adorable.

puzzle master

Gordy finally figured out his puzzle!  He knows where the pieces go and he can fit them in their slots.  Good job Gogo!

let's play - just no hugging

Yesterday, Gogo and I met our neighbors (Karen and baby Sanoe) at the beach so the mommies could hang out and the kids could play.  Even though the kids are only a few months apart in age, they've never really seemed to be very interested in each other.  In fact, I think it's much more accurate to say that they flat-out ignore each other.  Until yesterday... They were sitting in the sand talking (another language) to each other, pointing to things, sharing sticks, etc.  Sanoe even tried hugging Gordy, but he wasn't thrilled with the squeeze.  It was the sweetest interaction between two babies I've ever seen!  It even seemed like the two of them had forgotten that we were there and were completely caught up in playing with each other - until the hugging part, then Gordy was all pau!

touching trucks

The annual "touch a truck" event happened last weekend, and since our little human is obsessed with trucks, we made the trek.  He was clapping and moaning before we even parked the car because he could see some of the trucks from his back window.

We saw a fire truck, an ambulance, a cement mixer, a flatbed truck, and lots more!
Although he wasn't super happy to get in the the trucks by himself, he did really love to pull the cord that made the horns blow :)

We were all pretty cooked after an hour, but the journey was worth it!

14 months old

Happy 14 months old Gordy!
Goges is now walking 100% of the time - and boy is he fast!  We even got him some little shoes so that his tootsies don't get burned while he's terrorizing at the playground.  He's not happy to have the shoes by any means, but he'll tolerate them just like he does the rest of his clothes if it means that he gets to do something he likes (play at the playground, go for a bike ride, go to the beach, etc.).

He really likes to "get us" and likes it even more when we make like we are going to "get him".  He'll start to run away, and then will turn his head to the side to make sure that we are chasing him.

He's taught himself how to blow spit bubbles by holding a bunch of spit around his lips before he opens them.  He thinks it's super hilarious when we do it back at him.

His favorite thing in the world seems to be going for bike rides and will easily fall asleep if we take him on a long one.
His favorite word is "dada" and he uses it all the time - anytime Todd goes in the other room, anytime he wakes up and Todd doesn't come in his room, anytime, he's up on the deck and Todd is down in the yard... pretty much all the time.
If we let him, Gordy would live out in the yard.  He will do almost anything to be outside, naked, where he can play in his pool, the garden, the leaves, the worm bin, the shower, etc.
He knows what snakes, bees, giraffes, fish, hermit crabs, and hippos say and will make their noises or motions on command.  Here's him doing a hippo at Kailua beach:
Having a Gogo is so much fun!

bis später Fela!

Our newest member of the family, Gordy's aupair Fela, has left for a quick trip to Japan.  But, she'll be back soon for a few more months with us - yeahy!  She's been teaching Gordy German, taking him to the park where he plays with his friend (Andrew), singing him songs, etc. and Gordy couldn't be more happy about it.
Bis später Fela!
