mommy's day

I feel like by becoming a mom, I've joined some sort of secret club.  A club with supporters everywhere I turn and where all of the other members have a pretty good idea of how I'm feeling at any given moment.  I can see a kid doing something sweet and look up to see other women nearby smiling at the same kid just like I am.  We don't have to say anything to each other - we know we're part of the same secret club.  Only it's not so secret.  Everyone's always said how great it is to be a parent, but I think I've just never listened.  And, more importantly, there's nothing that anyone could ever have said that would accurately describe how insanely cool it is to be a mom.  It's the most challenging thing I've ever done and the most rewarding.  I'm so lucky to be a mommy to my little Gogo and I'm so lucky to have been born to my wonderful loving mom.

Happy mother's day to all the members of this not-so-secret club!

23 months old

We are nearing to the 2-year mark and I can't believe that it's all gone by so quickly.

In the last month, Gordy's talking has really improved.  He's gone from a word here and a word there, to 3-word sentences!  His most frequent conversations usually include, "Mommy, huge poop!", "more bar please", and "more big truck!".

He loves music.  He loves listening to it on tv, the radio, his keyboard... anywhere and any kind of music.  He'll throw his hands up and will bounce around to the beat.  He's also still pretty interested in his ukulele and plays it frequently.
He's learned to jump with both feet getting air off the ground.
He still loves tractors, trucks, playgrounds, bike rides, toddler time at the library, the beach, Snowflake, and possibly most of all - Nana!  Most moments of the day, he's my little shadow and will throw a lip if he doesn't get to cuddle with me after his nap.  But, throw Nana into the mix and mommy-who?
He's still really good about trying new foods and after trying something a few times, will nearly always be happy enough to eat/drink it again.  He still loves to read and be read to and knows lots of his books by heart.

We love you our little man!

Gogo Pools

Our neighbors needed to tent their house, so we decided to take up residence at our friend's house up near Shark's Cove while the poisoning was going on.  For three days, the boys went on walks to Foodland for coffee and apples while I worked and then we spent the remainder of the days going for beach walks.  While on our walks, we happened upon at least one (and sometimes multiple) ocean ponds that Gordy began calling "Gogo pools".
He ran around and played in the pools until his lips were blue and his teeth chattered and even then we had to bribe him with apples from Foodland to get him to leave the beach.  Thanks Rush and Brandee!
