Our little Go Go made 4 months old yesterday!
From the day he was born, everyone has been telling us to enjoy every minute because time flies by... They were right. There is no question that he has graduated from being a tiny infant to a fun baby. He holds his head up all by himself. He sits up with some help and will stay sitting without assitance for a few seconds. He wants to be a part of anything that we are doing and wants to eat/drink anything that we are consuming. We've let him sample some banana, poi, papaya and avocado... so far, he loves bananas and seems to have no preference for or against the rest. He can't seem to eat enough sand and he's getting better every day at getting submerged in the water (no crying, just a bit of arms and legs flailing and super wide eyes).
One of his new favorite things is sitting in the sand where the waves wash up just enough to get our bums and bellies wet. And, since the first real swell of the season peaked this weekend, Todd got in some bodysurfing while Gordy ate sand and played in the water to his heart's content!

the lip
Ever since Gordy was a newborn, he has shown his distaste for things by sticking out his bottom lip as far as he can and scrunching up his face. While it pains my heart to see him so unhappy, I secretly love the face. It is so dramatic that it seems like he must be putting on a show. Lucky for us, it is definitely not for show, and almost 4 months later, it appears that "the lip" is here to stay.
Most recently, he has been using his bottom lip for more than just pouting... he's started sucking on it :)

cute in a mangy way
When Gordy was born, he had a full head of dark, soft, beautiful hair. Over the course of the last few months, that hair has slowly been falling out leaving patches and wisps all over the back of his head. While we are still pretty certain that he's cute, it's turning into a mangy sort of cute.

Success at Rock Piles
A few days ago, there were some small waves at Rock Piles (Todd's favorite spot), so we packed up and headed to the beach for an evening sesh. Gordy and I sat on the sand watching Todd bodysurf for a while, but Gordy ate so much sand, that I decided to move a bit closer to the water so that maybe he'd play in the water instead. It worked! Every time the water would rush up underneath us, Gordy would kick around and splash in it :) He was having so much fun and the water was so warm that we ended up staying at the beach till the sun went down. Such a fun evening.
The beach experience was such a success that we decided to do our Friday sprints at Rock Piles for an encore. Sadly, the sand had changed so much and there was a bit too much shore break for Gordy. But, there happened to be a fresh mini pond just up from the shore that had Gordy's name written all over it.

the transfer
Around 8:00 each night, Gordy and I get comfy on the couch where he enjoys his dinner. Once he's finished (passed out with his mouth open), I put him in his swing next to the couch so we can keep an eye on him while we enjoy the rest of our evening. At about 10pm, I "turn into a pumpkin", so we close up shop and head to bed. Initially, we took great care to not jostle or disturb Gordy while moving him from the swing to the bedroom. But overtime, we realized that he too was "a pumpkin".

3 months old
Our little Go Go made 3 months old yesterday!
His most recent discovery has been his feet. He grabs them, kicks them, and even wants to stand on them. He's become fairly ticklish on his sides and under his neck, which makes it super easy for us to get laughs out of him. All in all, being his parent is pretty cool.

chores
There are a few things around the house that either Todd or I do each day... take out the container of food waste and empty it in the compost barrel, walk to the end of the driveway to get the mail, water the garden, pick things (i.e. papayas, kale, etc.) from the garden, and take out or retrieve a rubbish or recycle bin. At some point during the last few months, Todd took Gordy with him to do one of those things. Not only did Gordy appear to love being a part of the task, he seemed pretty certain that he should be involved in any and all future chores. So, Todd and Gordy have started doing many of the chores together.
