nap partner

For those who don't know, I am quite a good sleeper.  Be it a nap or a full night's sleep, I am always in the mood for some shut eye.  Apparently, Gordy got at least some of my sleep genes :)  And, since Todd is somewhat less interested in sleep of any kind, I'm happy to have a partner.  Ever since Gordy was a newborn, we've been taking kips together whenever and wherever we can...
Gordy is such a great nap partner that Todd even cuddled up with him for some shut-eye.

laughing out loud

Today marks the day that I heard one of the best noises I've ever heard... Gordy's laugh.  He's been smiling and opening his mouth as though he's laughing for quite a while, but we've never gotten any chuckles - until now.  Today, after changing one of his nuclear diapers, we lingered at the changing table and played "I'm gonna get you".  He rolled on his side as I went in to get him, so I attacked his right side with kisses.  For some reason (ticklish or just thought it was funny), my kisses were met with an actual laugh!  I must have done it five more times before I made Todd come in and get a video of it.  Sadly, it was a bit dark, so it's hard to see much on the video, but the audio is super cute!

new bucket

Gordy got his own new bucket!  The old one was fine at first, but once we realized how much he loved his bucket dunks, we decided it was time to get him his own clean bucket.  Todd even added a piece of foam to the back ridge of the bucket to protect his little head from hitting the edge.  As expected, Gordy LOVES his new swimming pool.

ice ice baby

Although we have no experience with these things, we believe that Gordy has started teething.  He's been drooling, blowing spit bubbles, gnawing on any hand, finger, arm, or shoulder within reach, and is super unhappy about it.  When he gets overly fussed, we've been feeding him some little miracle teething tablets that he doesn't seem to mind eating which take the edge of just enough for him to pass out.  One of Todd's favorite methods for giving Gordy a bit of relief has been to let Gordy suck on ice cubes.  Regardless of whether it actually helps his gums, Gordy really loves licking the ice.

family mornings

Waking up and cuddling with the two most important men in my life is one of the best things there is.
Gordy sleeps in his bassinet next to our bed during the night.  But, after his standard 6am diaper trashing and feeding, I put him in our bed for a family cuddle (and hopefully a bit more sleep).  He makes faces at the ceiling fan, we all talk (make noises) at each other, and Todd helps him to wrestle with his blanket.
I'm pretty sure that Gordy likes our mornings in bed just as much as we do :)

playing in the rain

It's been pretty drizzly all day, but this afternoon, the sky opened up and it dumped.  So, Todd decided that it would be a good time to introduce Gordy to the rain.  Gordy seemed to be fairly happy with the situation until Todd held him up to say hi to me and accidentally stuck his head under the roof line where the raindrops were particularly large and heavy.  He quickly recovered though :)
In other news, Gordy spent Sunday morning at The Bay where he finally met his uncle Rich.  We all look forward to seeing you again in October!

10 weeks old

Today, Gordy made 10 weeks old!!  To celebrate, we watched the Olympics and went for our typical Thursday swim at CORP (Todd and I swim while Gordy hangs out with his Nana, and then he gets to get in for a few minutes with us).
This week, Gordy has become much more vocal, has been blowing spit bubbles and drooling a bit, and seems to have just figured out that he has a tongue that he can control.  It's so much fun to see him grow and learn more about himself!

Gordy also had his first baby play date this week... which actually was much more of a mommy play date since the babies mostly slept and ate, and then slept and ate some more.  However, there was a window of time where all of the kids/babies were awake at the same time, so we seized the moment and took them all in the ocean.
Last, but not least, Gordy tolerated a bottle for the first time this week.  By tolerated, I mean didn't scream and throw a tanti.  He let both Todd and his Nana give him little sips from the bottle without too much fussing which is definitely progress.  I can't say that he got much milk in him, but at least it's a start!
