10 weeks old

Today, Gordy made 10 weeks old!!  To celebrate, we watched the Olympics and went for our typical Thursday swim at CORP (Todd and I swim while Gordy hangs out with his Nana, and then he gets to get in for a few minutes with us).
This week, Gordy has become much more vocal, has been blowing spit bubbles and drooling a bit, and seems to have just figured out that he has a tongue that he can control.  It's so much fun to see him grow and learn more about himself!

Gordy also had his first baby play date this week... which actually was much more of a mommy play date since the babies mostly slept and ate, and then slept and ate some more.  However, there was a window of time where all of the kids/babies were awake at the same time, so we seized the moment and took them all in the ocean.
Last, but not least, Gordy tolerated a bottle for the first time this week.  By tolerated, I mean didn't scream and throw a tanti.  He let both Todd and his Nana give him little sips from the bottle without too much fussing which is definitely progress.  I can't say that he got much milk in him, but at least it's a start!

4 Generations

Two weeks after Gordy was born, my Tutu came to stay with us to meet her newest great grandbaby.  While she was here, my mom stopped by so that we could capture a photo with our 4 generations :)
The only thing missing from this photo is the 5th generaion - my great grandma (Gordy's great great grandma) who turns 98 this week in Oregon.  Although we won't be there to wish her a happy birthday, we hope to visit her sometime soon so Gordy can meet his Granny Goodwitch.  Happy birthda Grandma!

9 weeks

I realize that we have posted lots (too many really) of photos of Gordy in the bucket already.  However, I have to post another one... Gordy made 9 weeks today, and I planned to set up a photo of him in the pool.  But, before we left the house, Todd thought we should let Gordy play in his bucket for a few minutes.  We helped him to grab onto the sides of the bucket, and, for the first time ever, Todd was able to let go of him completely!  Gordy held himself up all by himself with his hands and used his feet to help him push against the bottom.  So we had to get a photo of it, and we figured it would be a good idea to put the sign in there.  Yeahy Gordy!!
Please note the warning sign on the bucket :)

Tomorrow is Gordy's 2-month check-up where we find out how much he's grown.

Fecal Accident

We've had such great luck so far with all of our water experiences with Gordy, but a fecal accident was bound to happen.  Fortunately, it happened at our house and not at a public pool.  Unfortunately for Todd, it happened while Gordy was playing in the 5-gallon bucket when Todd's hand was conveniently cupped around Gordy's butt.

such a happy baby

Every morning and after every nap (even if it's only a 5 min nap) this is what we are greeted by:
Gordy opens his mouth and gives us a huge gummy smile which may or may not include some tongue action.  Does it get any better than this?

8 weeks old

Happy 8 weeks Gordy!
A 8 weeks, Gordy has:

  • started making clicking noises by sucking his tongue against the roof of his mouth and then popping it off
  • slept for 7 hours straight on two different nights
  • started using his hands and fingers to grab things instead of just batting at them
  • met Tutu and Pop Pop for the first time :)

not getting a cat

It was a bit rainy on Sunday, so Gordy and I stayed home while Todd went off to his weekly vball at the bay.  We read some books, cuddled, ate, etc.  Then I started making some animal noises at him to see if I could get him to laugh.  I woofed like a dog and quacked like a duck...  all was going super well until I meowed like a cat.  He stopped all bodily movement for a second, looked me in the eyes, stuck out his bottom lip and made a sour lemon face, before letting out an unhappy wail.  I immediately stopped making the noise and consoled him back to his typical happy-baby self.  But then, I couldn't help but wonder if he was just upset, or if it was the noise that made him lose his mind.  So, I did it again.  Rest assured, it's the noise.

When Todd came home later that afternoon, I told him all about Gordy's strange behavior.  And, of course, he wanted to see for himself.  This time, we got it on video:
I'm pretty sure that we are super mean parents for making the cat noise more than once.  However, the good news is that Todd can't make the noise the same way I can and therefore, can't torture Gordy with it!
