"I... AM... THE GREATESSS!"

Gogo changes so quickly.  One day he's blowing spit bubbles, and the next day it's as if he's forgotten how to do it, but instead, has picked up yelling.  His most recent funny talents/habits are: sticking his tongue out of his mouth down to his chin, throwing everything off of the couch (i.e. blankets, pillows, books, laundry, etc.), and opening his mouth super wide (to protest a scolding or to express his frustration).  Todd's pretty sure that the mouth opening is his way of channeling the Greatest of All Time - Ali.
He's also been improving his dancing skills and will pretty much "dance, dance, dance" on command.

happy bunny day

Gordy had quite an Easter weekend.  It started on Friday with a visit to our friend's farm - 'i'o farm for a tour.  We saw some lambs, fish, mongoose-hunting dogs, and got to pet some bunnies and chickens.   Gordy was a bit shy with the rabbits at first, but he quickly warmed up to them.  The rabbits still weren't as exciting as the chickens though... I mean, what is more exciting than a chicken?!?!  Thanks so much for the tour Chip!
Today, Gogo enjoyed his first easter basket experience (thanks to his Nana).  He was pretty happy about all of his new goodies, but he was especially excited about the plastic eggs :)
He even sampled his first bite of chocolate... And while he seemed fairly happy about eating it at first, he quickly changed his mind and spit it out.  Thankfully, he doesn't seem to have a sweet tooth yet!

10 months old

Happy 10 month old Gogo!
We are happy to announce that Gordy is still not very interested in walking.  He seems perfectly happy to stick to crawling, which is more than fine by us.  He had a few weeks where he'd dance on command, but that seems to have passed - he won't do it anymore.  Instead, he's taken to giving anyone and everyone a high-five!  As long as the receiver will stick their hand up for him, he'll excitedly slap it.  His 5th tooth came in, with a 6th not far behind it.  He's recently discovered that he can hold himself up against the sliding glass doors and will bang on them like he's a caged animal trying to escape.
To his dad's serious disdain, he's started yelling.  He tilts his head back, closes his eyes, opens his mouth, pauses... and then yells.  Sometimes it's to protest at something, sometimes it's because he doesn't like us talking, and other times, it's just for attention.  Todd is really unhappy about it, regardless.  He's been really loving frozen berries (maybe it's the hotter weather).
And, he's started putting things back in their bucket, box, or container.  While in the bathtub (outside), he will throw all of his bath toys on the ground.  Then, he'll climb out of the tub and crawl all over the ground collecting his toys so that he can put them back in the tub.  He'll crawl back into the tub and will start the process again.  Lather, rinse, repeat!

quite a hike

Since Eva's visa will be up soon, we are doing our best to do everything on her bucket list these last few weeks.  One of the things on the list - hike to a waterfall.  So, based on a recommendation from a friend (thanks Dana!) we set out conquer Lulumahu Falls yesterday.  Karen and Sanoe joined us and the hike did not disappoint!  We made out way through a bamboo forest, walked through an incredible valley, rock climbed our way back forth across a riverbed, and eventually made it to a 50 foot waterfall!  Gordy cruised the whole way in our new hiking pack (that we got from a garage sale for $10) with only the occasional protest when he got a little jostled from crawling over a big log or boulder.
After our hike, we hit Kailua beach for a quick swim to wash away the mud and sweat from the hike before making our way home.

i spy a... helicopter!

There have been many times where an airplane or helicopter has flown overhead, and Gordy has never really noticed it.  In fact, I've even attempted to point out the loud flying objects to him to no avail.  However, on Friday after our sprints, he became infatuated with his first helicopter:
After the helicopters had all gone, we had a quick play in the water before heading home.

dance, dance, dance

We aren't sure where he picked up his moves, but Gordy loves to dance, dance, dance!  It's very similar to "jump jump jump" and "kick kick kick", but occasionally he throws in a side to side head swing.
The coolest thing about his dancing is that he's started doing it to show his excitement when one of us comes home... or when Todd comes back to the start line during sprints.  (He really only celebrated his dad's return the first 3 times.  Then, when Todd failed to come over and great him, he lost his enthusiasm.)

loves the coconut

Todd and I love coconut, which is great because we have three very productive trees.  And thankfully, Gordy loves it too!  He loves to eat the flesh, drink the water, drink the milk (after we blend it up), and play/eat the husk.  He is our boy for sure ;)

no way jose

One of Gordy's new funny things is how he shakes his head from left to right.  We are pretty sure that he's not doing it with the intention of saying "no".  Instead, it seems he does it when he's excited, when his daddy comes home, and when he eats yummies.

bulldogs and bubbles

We usually try to hop in the pool with Gordy after our water polo games because we feel like it's torture to make him hang out on the hot pool deck for an hour without some sort of payoff.  So, since we had each gotten a swim in before our Wednesday's game and were not particularly interested in getting wet again, we found a few bulldogs who were happy enough to help out.
I'm not sure if the girls or Gordy had more fun :)

As we were driving down Snake Rd on our way home, we noticed a huge bubble floating across the street!  There were two guys parked on the side of the road with long sticks and a bucket, making gigantic soap bubbles!  We were pretty sure that Gordy needed to check it out, so we stopped the car and watched the bubble show.  Gordy was so excited about the bubbles, that he completely forgot about all of the cars that were driving past and even started sticking his hand out to touch them.
