This magical place called Sault

My friend Justine’s village in the mountains in the south of France is an incredibly special place.

When you drive here, it’s about an hour from the larger village Avignon, and there’s a corner that you turn on your way in where the mountain opens up to a picture perfect view of Sault in the valley. It’s one of my favorite views of all time.

The houses in this village look like small castles, lavender grows in the fields all around, red poppies grow wild, and the people are warm and welcoming. Most importantly, our friends are wonderful.

We’ve spent the last few days meeting my god-daughter Sylia and Justine’s husband Iklef for the first time, saying hello and then good bye again to Justine’s mom (Pascale) before she left for a trip, helping to plant lettuce in their garden, going to local farms and farmers markets for fresh produce and juicy olives, visiting a goat farm for cheese, eating croissants and coffee for breakfast, enjoying delicious vegetarian French and Moroccan food (thank you Justine and Iklef), and cuddling Machete the kitty.

Our stay here is coming to an end and it will be hard to say good bye.
